In creating the ideal environment for coaching success the coach is always non-judgmental. You can speak and share your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement or criticism. Openness will maximize the effectiveness of the coaching experience and will help you clarify your motivations and aspirations, and define your goals. Coaching is focused on questioning to raise your awareness and evoke aspirations, goals and actions. Questions are there to provoke thoughts and raise awareness, and there is no right or wrong answer.
What happens during our coaching sessions?
Give yourself time to focus on you so come to your sessions prepared – this means showing up with a focused mindset and with the tools you need. Come to the session with a pen and paper, or tablet – however you like to take notes. You need to write down your actions and any insights you want to reflect upon after the session. Your coaching environment should be free of distractions and outside interference. Have you a good space? Have you allocated yourself enough time? Can you ensure you won’t be disturbed?
Stages of a Coaching Session

If you have had a session before, then we spend a few minutes looking at how you got on with the actions you committed to. Vicki offers accountability – if you want it. However, even if you don’t want to discuss action in details, we always look at what went well, and consider what went less well too, as it provides a chance for more reflection and insight.

What will you use your session for today? It might be a theme that you want to run through out your programme or you might want to bring a new topic to each session. This is your agenda and you can talk about whatever you want!

What is you want? Why now? We look at your ambitions and aspirations. You are encouraged to express your goal in terms of positive outcomes.

Where are you now and why? What’s going well, and what’s stopping you?

If anything was possible what would you do? We enter a creative brainstorming space for you to dig deep into your desires and needs. This stage is about sparking ideas.

What is next for you? We look at how you can move yourself towards achieving your ambitions, and you create an action plan. As a coach Vicki might be firm, but always encouraging when it comes to scheduling actions.
Coaching works on solutions, not problems. There are many support tools out there for you, and coaching is just one. Before we start working together we will complete a complimentary discovery call. This is an opportunity for us to meet online and assess if coaching is the right path. There is no obligation to go forward with any coaching at all. There is no need to feel uncomfortable if you don’t want to progress. Our sessions are an honest safe space – straight talking is encouraged! And if you want to stop our sessions just say! You bring the commitment and you are free to change your mind whenever you want – no problems, no judgement.
Sometimes during coaching I will ask you about past experiences but this is only to inform you about the present. Our focus is the now and looking forward. We don’t look into the actions or activities of the past. This is counselling or therapy. If you feel that is what you need you can find a healthcare professional to give you the support you need.
